As of Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), you can run Java 6 in 32-bit mode on either 32-bit or 64-bit Intel processor equipped Macs. If you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard, Soy Latte is a pre-compiled version of Java 6 for Intel 32-bit. Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 16 delivers improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6.

Note: Mac OS X 10.7 will be the only version of Mac OS X supported by Oracle. 10.6.8 + Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 6 should continue to work for the foreseeable future. We do not expect to use 10.7-only API in the codebase.
